Is it….muuuusic?

This program features Patchwork, a saxophone and drum set duo, and Audra, a new voice and saxophone duo. Mutually interested in exploring a wide range of contemporary genres, Noa Even and Stephen Klunk formed Patchwork, an ensemble that collaborate with composers to build an eclectic body of new music for their unique instrumentation. The duo has been described as demonstrating "astonishingly tight ensemble” by ClevelandClassical.com and "creating the effect of a hybrid solo instrument" by I Care if You Listen. Their set features commissioned works, three of which are on their 2020 self-titled album, released on New Focus Recordings. 

This season, Noa joined forces with Philadelphia-based vocalist Anika Kildegaard, a member of Grammy Award-winning The Crossing and LIGAMENT, to create Audra. The new duo is presenting a “mini-opera” by Cecilia McDowell, Swedish hymn-inspired music by Karin Rehnqvist, and a wild ride through a John Cage text via Thomas Kessler’s Is It?
